Closer
Years from now, I imagine myself looking back today. I wonder what the actual narrative would be – how we not only survived but thrived, in the midst of adversity. The hard times lasted for around 8 years, more than the 7-year-itch. Yet, it was amazing how God allowed it and pulled us through.
Now, I’m sure that we’re indeed going to prosper and bless many other people. I’m going to find my calling and wake up each day looking forward to working because it doesn’t seem like work at all. What I’m just thrilled to know is how it’s going to come to pass and what surprise is awaiting me.
It’s funny how my outlook was so different at the beginning of the difficult times. I felt like all of my dreams were shattered and that I started living in a constant nightmare. One thing good it resulted to is I talked to God much much more often. I had all these ideals of what a good friend is and how good people can be. Too bad those ideas didn’t last long. However, I didn’t actually regret it because in exchange for that, I came to know God better. I came to realize that even when bad things happen, He’s there and He’s in control.
We walk by faith and not by sight. It couldn’t be any truer for me and my family. When the sun seems so far away, we believe that it’s closer than we think. It’s easy to believe there’s an iceberg if you can see its tip. But, we choose to believe when it’s out of sight.
Now, I don’t know how much longer, but one thing I’m sure of: God is going to bless us and get us out of this difficulty. I’m just awaiting for His mysterious ways with excitement.
